The church council's role is primarily leadership rather than management.
The council shall envision, create and implement a plan aligned with the mission and ministry of the church. The plan must be implemented by providing adequte human and material resources to accomplish the objectives. The plan should contain short and long term objectives and include programs for nurture, outreach and witness ministries. Annually the plan should be measured, evaluated and tuned.
Other functions of the council include: acting as the administrative agency for the charge conference, working with and supporting the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, cooperating with the Board of Trustees on physical facilities, legal obligations and insurance, assisting the Committee on Finance and filling interim vacancies among the lay leaders and committees.
An important additional function is relating to the larger connectional church ... the district, annual conference, and denomination.
For detailed information see paragraph 252 in the Book of Discipline 2012.
The church council meets the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary.
The meetings are open to all members, associate members and affiliate members.
Votes may only be cast by the church council members. A quorum consists of the council members present and voting.
