The Youth Director develops, coordinates, implements, and supervises the youth programs of Gulf Cove United Methodist Church. The Youth Director reports to the senior pastor.


    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide opportunities for the development, nurturing, and spiritual growth of the youth at Gulf Cove United Methodist Church.
  • Develop and implement United Methodist Youth Fellowship weekly evening programs, as well as other additional youth activities and events.
  • Participate in periodic retreats.
  • Provide assistance with youth Sunday School and other youth educational programs of the church. Promote these programs among the congregation and community at large.
  • Actively encourage members, friends, guests, and new teens to attend youth group.
  • As the youth program grows at GCUMC, coordinate volunteers for Jr./Sr. MYF.
  • Develop outreach plans focused on local, state, and foreign missions.
  • Participate in worship on a weekly basis.
  • Attend Church Council meetings, and provide reports about the implementation of youth programs and ministries.
  • Coordinate publicity for youth programs with church and community publications.
  • Maintain relationships with the District and Conference Coordinators and participate in denominational activities at these levels, as time permits.
  • Meet regularly with local church youth leaders to share ideas and coordinate activities.
  • Stay current on continuing education offerings, and attend those approved by the senior pastor and supported by the operating budget.
  • Manage finances within the youth budget, and organize fundraisers as needed.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Perform other related functions as may be assigned by the senior pastor.
  • Attend Education Committee meetings.
