Closet of Hope
"Closet of Hope" collects and distributes new or gently used clothing to people in need. Sizes range from infants to adults. All clothing is offered free of charge, although we may limit the amount of clothing per person. We do require a registration card to be filled out.
Beyond clothing we would like to offer people and families a message of hope and Jesus' love. Our desire is to be an outward expression of Christ’s love by meeting the practical needs of families who seek assistance within our community.
Open 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Who may receive clothing?
Anyone who has felt a need for clothing may receive clothing. There are no economic qualifications. Sometimes just getting needed clothing can make a difference in the budget. People within the Gulf Cove UMC family and people residing in Charlotte county and southern Sarasota county (North Port, Venice, Englewood) are welcome to participate. We provide gently used clothing and shoes for infants, teens and adults.
"I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." ~Matthew 25:36

Donate your time. We need:
Sorters - The clothing that comes in each week must be sorted and hung up.
Staff - On the days the “Closet of Hope” is open, the staff help those who come in for clothes find their clothes, as well giving instructions on the shopping process. They are encouraged to smile and interact with those who come in as much as possible. Some staff may function as "crowd control," and others talk and play with the children who come in with their parents.
