Inglenook Caring Ministry

Inglenook is an assisted living facility located in Englewood, FL.

Assisted living facilities provide an intermediate level of care for residents who cannot safely live independently, but do not yet need around-the-clock skilled nursing services like those provided in a nursing home.

Once a month, a group of volunteers from Gulf Cove UMC bring cheer and companionship to the residents of Inglenook. The facility, which is located on Pine Street in Englewood, serves about sixteen ladies. Volunteers participate by helping the ladies play BINGO. You would be surprised how a BINGO game can make someone’s day. Of course, the donated prizes add some spice to the game. Oh, did I mention the homemade cookies? How can you have a party without homemade cookies?

Donations of small stuffed animals, clip-on earrings, and hand lotion are always appreciated as prizes for the residents. During our December visit, we surprise each resident with a gift, provided by funds donated by the GCUMC congregation.

Inglenook Caring Ministry is special. Visitation is on the 3rd Wednesday of each month between 2:30 and 3:30. If you feel drawn to participate, please email Dana Hanson at danahanson@comcast.net or call her at 941-979-9927 for more information.
