Englewood Helping Hand

EHH typically needs peanut butter, jelly, ramen noodles, pasta, condiments, canned chicken, canned fruit, bar soap and toilet paper.  If you can help, there is a drop box/basket in the entryway to the Gulf Cove UMC sanctuary.  Here you will also find a list of the current needs of EHH.

Englewood Helping Hand is a community-supported social services agency that provides short-term assistance to Englewood residents, including residents of the Gulf Cove, Rotonda, Placida, and Grove City areas of Englewood. Englewood Helping Hand is located on the grounds of the Englewood United Methodist Church.

Assistance includes help with food, rent, electric and water, prescription medications, and referrals. Helping Hand is also a food stamp and Medicaid ACCESS site.

You may be eligible if you are low-income or your family recently had a crisis such as loss of employment.

Englewood Helping Hands is open to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 AM to 1 PM.  They are also open on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

A request for food assistance must be accompanied by a picture ID and proof of Englewood area residency.

Every few weeks during the year, our church provides volunteers to inventory donations and fill food bags. A sign-up sheet is usually posted in the Education Wing for those who wish to assist for a day.   Englewood Helping Hands insurance mandates that all volunteers wear closed-toed shoes.

Donations of food are happily accepted at the front doors in the narthex.
